Bratakus

Bratakus, once described by the BBC as “the most remote band in the UK”, was formed in 2015 by sisters Brèagha Cuinn (Guitar/vocals) and Onnagh Cuinn (Bass/vocals) in the isolated Scottish Highlands. Unable to find a drummer, they improvised with programmed drum tracks and quickly embraced the powerful two-piece format, which became a defining part of their identity.

Heavily influenced by the garage punk scene, including bands like The Distillers and X-Ray Spex, Bratakus quickly became a formidable live combo. From the start, they maintained a staunch DIY ethos, launching Screaming Babies Records—a family-run label focused on anti-establishment anthems and limited edition vinyl, eschewing mainstream industry practices.

Despite this resistance, word spread rapidly. BBC Scotland featured the duo in documentaries, and they secured support slots for bands like Propagandhi and Discharge. In 2023, the band was invited to join Sweden’s premier rock 'n' roll outfit, The Hives, on a month-long European tour, a milestone achieved with no booking agent and zero Spotify releases.

Now, with the release of their powerful, politically charged single 'Final Girls', Bratakus enters an exciting new phase. We are thrilled to welcome the band to the Venn Records family. Their energy, politics, and incredible live presence are something we're genuinely proud to support.
